Rogue Valley Windchasers
March 2005 Newsletter

Newsletter was prepared by Elie with many thanks!

The meeting of the Rogue Valley Windchasers on 3-3-05 at Elmers Restaurant in Grants Pass was called to order by Prez Randy Fabich at 7:25 P.M.

Those in attendance were: Dan & Elie Hall, Charolette & Howard McCusker, Herb & Shirley Lumpkin, Paul & Sandy Quinn, Marsha Lovitt, Bruce & Nathan Ostovar, Darlene & Joe Wright, Grant Pencille (Shari was awol on business) Bill Fitzpatrick, and Randy Fabich. The couple, consisting of the Myricks made a brief appearance, but due to a KEY factor, they returned to the safety of their own home. Note: Yeah, I locked the keys in the trunk but I had already derailed on this roller coaster called life before I got around to locking the keys. These names are supposed to be alphabetical order, Elie, but I'm seriously not complaining!

Prez Randy explained about a worm in a computer as the reason the agenda was late and maybe that was the reason for a low turnout for the meeting. This reporter just asks "Where were you people" ?!! Me too….where was everyone? The meetings have been held regularly on the first Thursday of the month with or without an Agenda!

The treasurers report was as follows: Beginning balance $3,475.36, we took in $15.75, one outstanding check for the shirts $1,462.05, leaving us with a balance of $2,029.06

Randy talked about the kite or banner making class. It was decided that the weekend we had chosen was Easter weekend, so we changed it to 3-20, yes it is a Sunday. Majority of the people liked that date.

There was a pamphlet passed around to the members explaining the kite/banner making. Materials that are needed, patterns and where you could buy the material. Try Plaza Sewing downtown . Randy also talked about looking on the computer for kite sewing under a kite link. Computer people know what that means.

No new members to report, but Marsha attended her second meeting. Welcome, Marsha!

No kids kites chairman yet - someone should step up to the bat - its really not that hard of a job!

Note from Steve O'brien announcing his retirement from announcing at festivals. He just wants to have fun. Thanks for the good times.

Windchasers.org website is up and going, with work still in progress. Check it out when you get a chance. www.windchasers.org. We have a good start.

Someone (didn't hear who) appointed Randy Fabich and Bill Fitz as the co-reps for the Southern Or. AOK.

Randy heard from Lori about the Kite Doc, who had a 99% clogged artery. He had to have a "sleeve" put in and now is back to work feeling fine. Poor Doc! Lori sent some pretty funny jokes which Randy will share with us at the next meeting.

Hey Kite Doc! You can share information with a few club members including Don M. and Joe W. Don't know the difference between a sleeve and a stint but imagine they are similar? Hope you are getting some rest.

THANKS to Annie's hard work, the shirts are in. Pick them up after the meeting and be sure to pay the piper, Dan. GREAT JOB Anne!!!!!

Thanks. Now I know why you don't want to do inventory any more!

No new business. There is high interest that the club should change the venue of our meeting back to Abby"s annex. Randy will check into this.

Heard that Elmer's was not prepared A G A I N for us. What's up with that? Since our club has shrunk in size again Abby's would hold all of us. Once Randy advises, we will let you know if we make that change providing I don't get another computer virus…I just did not want to take a chance of sending out something bad to everyone….better late than never??

50/50 was won by Bill Fitz, congrats, he won $10.00.

Show and tell: Nathan has a new orange/red/yellow Quantum by Prism. He said it is 84 inches wide, he is going to fly it this weekend for the first time.

Randy had a picture from Kite Doc of a beautiful 11 foot color wheel (bol) that he made. It has over 700 pieces! Wow, that must have been a nightmare just with the sewing - not to mention all the line he had to piece together. GREAT JOB!

The meeting was adjourned by prez Randy at 8:10.

Respectfully submitted by this volunteer reporter, Elie. Good Night.

GREAT JOB, ELIE! Want to be secretary???

REMINDER: WE HAVE NOMINATIONS NEXT MONTH (APRIL), VOTE IN MAY AND NEW OFFICERS BEGIN JUNE….
